ABOUT BETH GIGNAC

Experience

Beth's background in government and the arts as the City of Calgary Manager of Arts and Culture allows her to connect directly with people and communities. She has done extensive community liaison work with a wide range of partners. Previous to joining the City of Calgary, Beth was employed by the City of Mississauga. She was the Manager of Arts and held a variety of other positions with the City of Mississauga.

Beth is a specialist in community development and project management with a real enthusiasm for new ventures. She has facilitated the development of many strategic plans for a wide variety of community-based not for profit organizations.

In 2006, Beth was appointed Chair of the Creative City Network of Canada (CCNC) and has guided the Board of Directors through a sustainability planning framework that will establish a renewed way of serving both the community of practice interest in municipalities but will also serve the wider community of interest.

Energy for Arts and Culture

The explosive growth of Canada's 4th largest city is quickly establishing the municipal contribution to arts and culture as a significant national leader in this area. Beth is thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute her considerable amount of energy and enthusiasm to the residents of Calgary-West, Calgary and Alberta.

Energy for Education and Child Care

Education and child care is important to all Albertans. Alberta invests less per child care space than any other province in Canada. The Alberta Liberals see child care and education funding not as an expense, but as an investment, and one that will pay long-term dividends.

Energy for the Environment

Beth is an avid traveler, cyclist, runner and enjoys hiking the mountains of western Canada. Beth and the Alberta Liberals will reverse years of foot-dragging, and make Alberta a world leader in addressing environmental issues including climate change, water protection, and land stewardship.

Time for Change

Beth is committed to listening to the concerns of Calgary-West she is running a campaign that is all about you.
