STILL UNDECIDED?

The best way to describe the decision you have to make on Monday may be characterized by a single exchange in last week's All-Candidates forum at the Strathcona Community Centre. In response to a question, Beth noted that people from across Canada knew Alberta was experiencing a boom - even 5-years ago and she can't understand the excuses the Conservative Party gives for not planning for and better capitalizing on this opportunity for all Albertans.

Ron Leipert, the PC Candidate got up from his chair to look down on Beth and wave his finger at her to suggest that there was no way to know, or plan for such unknowns. The body-language said it all. It is time. PCs are tired, angry, and out of ideas. For many people in Alberta there has only ever been one government during their life. The best very thing for Alberta is to move from a collection of people that came here to make money to a community that will work together to improve the way we live, educate, and work. Please consider your vote seriously. Every single vote will count on Monday.

A NEW KIND OF GOVERNMENT

Recent events in Edmonton have made it clear. Our government is no longer friendly to Calgary. They are not sensitive to our needs. They are not prepared to act in our interests. It's also clear that the largely rural caucus that supports Premier Stelmach in Northern Alberta, isn't interested in hearing what Calgarians have to say.

Calgary's issues are not the issues of rural or northern Alberta. Our challenges are unique. They are urban challenges related to managing the growth of an important and powerful city in the heart of Western Canada.

It would be a waste of time to elect yet another conservative voice to a government caucus already overflowing with rural conservatives. Calgary needs a new voice, a new direction. We need a new kind of government.

Please use the opportunity given to us by the next election to send a strong message to the Conservative Party: Calgarians are united in demanding that our city and our interests be considered seriously and treated with respect.
